About Collector Car Pre-Purchase Inspections

Quite often these days, cars are purchased from magazine ads or from internet sources. Also quite often, these purchases are based solely on a couple of friendly telephone conversations and a few photographs provided by the vendor. Two immediate issues can,  and do, arise:

1. Is the car in the photographs really the car that is being offered for sale?
2. Is vendors representation of condition in fact the actual condition? 50% of the time it is not.

The result? When the vehicle arrives, without a pre-inspection, the buyer is not always as “impressed” with the purchase as they would like to be (often an understatement to say the least). In some extreme cases, the buyer has been totally misled by the vendor.

What We Offer

Within the Southern Ontario, Canada area, we will travel to the vehicle and provide a hands-on inspection paying particular attention to any and all of the areas requested by the buyer. Photographs will be provided of the exterior, interior, engine bay, underside and trunk. We will listen to the engine running, pull dipsticks, examine for fluid leaks and look for any others items that were not disclosed during seller/buyer discussions or through provided photographs.

Essentially, we will be the eyes and ears of the buyer and provide the prospective purchaser an unbiased, extensive, visual hands-on inspection of the car they are considering for purchase.

Once the inspection has been completed, a detailed report, including photographs, will be emailed to our client within 24-36 hours. This report will highlight our observations about:

- exterior bodywork & trim
- glass
- wheels and tires
- interior
- results of running test (leaks if any)
- underside general condition (to the extent observable)
- trunk

We will also call and discuss our findings over the telephone prior to e-mailing the report if desired.
